A 23year old Nigerian student Abegunde Sunday, has emerged as the winner of the world union of poet prize, 2016 edition.
Abegunde Sunday, a student of the Obafemi Awolowo University Ile – Ife, was on April 25th, 2016 announced the winner of the World Poetic Union Contest in India.
Silvano Bortolazzi, the President of the World Union of Poets, listed out winners of this year’s edition of the WUP contest on the official website of the union.
Abegunde Sunday was announced the winner of the WUP, followed by Reena Prasad, who took second position and Maribelle Genova took third position.
The honorable members of the jury, who judged and deliberated on the poetic submission includes : Dr. Jernail Singh Anand, W.U.P. General manager and President of jury from India; Dr. Maria Miraglia, W.U.P. International Director and Member of the Jury from Italy; Dr. Roghayeh Farsi, W.U.P. International Director and Member of the Jury from Iran; Dr. George Onsy, W.U.P. International Director and Member of the Jury from Egypt; Dr. Muhammad Shanazar, W.U.P.
International Director and Member of the Jury
from Pakistan; and Mr. Ashok K. Bhargava, W.U.P. International Director and Member of the Jury from Canada.

Management in third year, in a chat with wazobia correspondent said that this is not his first poetic reward, as he revealed some of the awards he has received.
“I’m very happy for the WUP contest victory though this is not my first award. I have won FPASU Year 2013/14, Creative Writers Association Literary Emperor Award 2014 and
Outstanding Young African Kindle Author 2014. I dedicate this W. U. P International Poetry Prize to my late father, Mr. Abegunde, who died on the 1st March, 2016” he said.
