A Nigerian journalist Didi Akinyelure, has emerged winner of the second BBC World News Komla Dumor Award.
Didi, a business news anchor with CNBC Africa, will start a three-month placement at BBC in London in September as part of her prize. She has been with CNBC Africa since 2013, report revealed.
The award, established in honor of Komla Dumor, a BBC World News presenter, who died in 2014, seeks to celebrate African journalism and reward exceptional talent.
One of the Judges at the Award selection Jury Josephine Hazelet, said Didi particularly excelled in telling business stories which was an area Komla was also passionate about
While speaking to the press, Didi, said Dumor was someone she admired, and she is happy to be a winner of the award.
“He told the African story with so much passion for the continent, giving a balanced view and inspiring so many” Didi said
