Cameroon-Born IT Specialist Realizes His Dreams as a Model & Actor

“I always try to push my limits and see how far I can go.”

Martin Bebey, a 24-year-old Cameroon-born computer scientist, model and actor was born in Yaounde, Cameroon but grew up in a family of five in Douala. As a kid, he was fascinated by computers, so he decided to look further into them. When the time came to go to University he moved to Toronto, Canada. While there he studied and completed his Bachelor’s degree then he decided to move to the United States because of the opportunities in the computer industry. He continued on to Western Michigan University, Kalamazoo for his Master’s degree in Computer Science.

As he ascended the education ladder, he was told several times by friends that he had the potential to be a good actor and model, especially in looks and character. Maybe it was by peer pressure, but he finally decided to give it a try; it was fun and he loved it. He was then given a role in one of Ellen DeGeneres’s upcoming shows called First Dates, which he found exciting. From that appearance he was given a role in the series Chicago PD.

Bebey believes that getting into something new can be exciting but also scary, like exploring the jungle. He had no experience and no one to guide him through the process of becoming an actor/model, so he had to discover things on his own. It was harder than he thought, but he was passionate about it and had the support from friends and family that kept him going. He is presently working towards establishing his own brand of computers and become a worldwide featured actor and model in the upcoming years.

He has this to say as his secrets of success and advice for the youth.

“The best way to get over something that scares you is actually doing it. Know what drives you and when you feel like giving up, remember why you started. To those that say you can’t do it, well, prove them all wrong.”
