Wazobia Goes to London: First African Mayor of Greenwich Welcomes Wazobia

Wazobia Global Network’s Temitope Omotayo and Oladapo Awosokanre visited the Royal Borough of Greenwich London recently and were received by the First African Mayor of the city, Mayor Olu Babatola, who took time off his busy schedule to take them around important places in the city hall.

Mayor Olu Babatola was born in Ibadan, Nigeria where he had his early education. He relocated to the United Kingdom in 1986 and obtained a Diploma and subsequently a Postgraduate Diploma from Greenwich School of Management. After graduating, Babatola became an associate member of the Association of Business Executives (AMABE).

Before joining politics he worked in the retail industry. In 2014 he was elected a Councilor representing Thamesmead Moorings. Followed by Deputy Mayor in 2015 and then Mayor in 2016 after a keenly contested election.

His story has further corroborated the fact that greatness has nothing to do with one’s background, everything we desire in life is possible if only we believe and show willingness to work towards our dreams.
