African Fashion Pop Up held at 1501 Fulford street, Kalamazoo on Saturday, February 25, 2017.The event which was organized by tyd fabrics & fashions, Southfield in collaboration with Rootead and other organizations based in Kalamazoo attracted vendors, buyers and lovers of African clothes, beads and other accessories.
The CEO of tyd, Yemisi Bamisaye spoke with Wazobia Global’s Temitope Omotayo, she said she is motivated by the increasing demand for African fabrics like Ankara and there is need to meet these needs so she decided to go from city to city with a view to showcasing African culture and fashion. She said she has already gone to Grand Rapids, Tampa city in Florida while efforts are in top gear toward visiting Atlanta, Dallas and other cities across the United States of America. She added that the demand for African fabrics by people from other races like the Caucasians and African Americans is very huge hence, the need to network with like minds to meet this demand.
Whichever way we look at it, the trend is changing and there is need to move with the trend.
