Last week we discussed why you want to be an entrepreneur. With that firmly set in, let’s talk about the how. How are you going to become a successful business person?
Now success looks different on everyone. Depending on your type of business, it may be the sales numbers that drive you or the number of readership. Whatever success looks like to you is the direction you’re aiming.
Ask yourself these three questions.
1. What dreams do I have for my company?
2. Where do I see my company in 5 years, 10 years, 20 years?
3. Where do I see myself personally as my company grows?
These questions are not the makings of a business plan, but a plan of action.
Look at your answers again. I know you wrote down all the safe manageable things you knew you could accomplish. Now write down all the aspirations that scare you; those dreams that seem so much bigger then you.
Dream up big, hairy, audacious goals that you are passionate about and pursue them relentlessly. You have to begin with the end goal in mind, knowing that a goal is a dream with a deadline.

With everything written out in front of you, it’s time to put some action behind it. For every item on your list write down steps to move you in that direction. Think of this as your GPS, if you don’t know where you’re going you’ll never get there.
Your “why” and your “how” go hand and hand in getting you to your personal success. With these two tools in your tool box, you will go further then you could have ever imagined.
It’s time to get to work!
