President Nana Akufo Addo of Ghana was the guest speaker at Africa Beyond Aids public lecture organized by the Royal African Society, London. With the support of World Remit and DeCharles the lecture attracted leading business owners and leaders who came together to brainstorm on this topic.
Speaking at the event, the President expressed the continent’s readiness to work hard so that Africa can regain its place in the league of continent. “We need to, and we shall move Africa beyond Aids.” He added that it is high time Africa built its economy which will not be dependent on charities and handouts. Some of the panelists who took part in the public lecture were Ahmed Cisse, Vice Chairman of Business Confederation of Cote D’ Ivoire, Tony Oteng-Gyasi, Managing Director at Tropical Cable and Conductor Ltd., Emeke Iweriebor, Executive Director, United Bank for Africa Plc., Herman Chinery-Hesse, CEO of SOFTtribe Ltd., Nora Bannerman, Designer and President of the Ghana Apparel Manufacturing Association and Fuse ODG, tourism ambassador and musician. The panel was chaired by Dr. Nick Westcott, Director of Royal African Society, while the Chair of the Royal African Society, Zeinab Badawi ushered the President to the podium.
