League of Women Voters Hosts Meeting on Immigration Legal Services for Low-Income Immigrants
Dearborn – The League of Women Voters Dearborn – Dearborn Heights will be hosting a public meeting with Melanie D. Goldberg, Legal Director of Justice for Our Neighbors Southeastern Michigan on Thursday, March 15, 2018 at 7:00 p.m. at Christ Episcopal Church in Dearborn.
Justice for Our Neighbors (JFON) is a ministry of the United Methodist Church that welcomes immigrants by providing expert immigration legal services to low-income immigrants, refugees and asylum seekers. JFON is also engaged in advocacy for immigrant justice and offers education to faith and other community groups. JFON-SEMI was formed in 2009 and hosts monthly legal clinics in Dearborn, Detroit and Ypsilanti. Melanie has been practicing immigration law in the Detroit area for more than twenty years.
The public is invited and admission is free. Parking is conveniently located next to the church. The church provides a wheelchair ramp and an elevator. Christ Episcopal Church is located at 120 N. Military at the corner of Military (west of Evergreen and east of Outer Drive), and Cherry Hill (three streets north of Michigan Ave.)
The League of Women Voters, a nonpartisan organization, encourages the informed and active participation in government, works to increase understanding of major public policy issues, and influences public policy through education and advocacy.
