The tense situation in the store is now over, but another situation is gripping the Graham household. Ben is off to the police station doing his job, while Mrs. Graham is left to take care of the problem herself.
Once home, it felt like time had stopped. All types of thoughts went running through my head. It had gotten to the point where I couldn’t control them.
“OK, OK, he’s okay. He’ll call me when he can. How long has it been anyway? Lord please let him be alright.”
I paced the floor waiting for Ben to call and tell me something. I worked myself up so much that I started having contractions. At first I was able to handle it, but even after drinking water they got so severe that I started to make my way to the hospital. I could only make it to the side of the store behind the loft when I almost passed out. One of the nurses from the hospital and the stock person from the store saw me almost fall and came to my aid.
“Ma’am are you alright? What’s your name? Where are you going?”
“Mrs. Graham are you alright?”
“No Eric, I’m not. This can’t be happening! I’m only twenty-six weeks.”
The nurse ran to grab a wheelchair that was just across the street. When he came back, he hastily picked me up and put me into the seat. As the nurse pushed me across the street, I could hear Eric yell behind me, “Don’t worry Mrs. Graham, I’ll call Mr. Graham at the police station.”
“Hello Sarge. I’m still filling out the report about today’s scene. I’ll be done in… What? Where is she? Hey, you behind the desk, I need a car!”
I jumped into the squad car and headed straight to the hospital, praying the entire way. “Lord please don’t let anything happen to my family. Protect them Lord, watch over them, and send your angels to surround them right now in the name of Jesus. You said that you would never leave us or forsake us and because we are your children all we have to do is ask. Lord, I’m asking in Jesus’ mighty name, Amen.”
