The Senate president, Bukola Saraki, has urged the government of Qatar to look into the issue of visiting visas not being granted to Nigerians wishing to visit the country.
Saraki made the plea in Doha where he lead a delegation from the National Assembly to attend the 140th Inter-Parliamentary Union meeting that commenced on Friday, April 5, and ends on Monday, April 8.
The Senate president during a meeting with the prime minister and minister of interior of Qatar, Sheikh Abdullah Bin Nasser Bin Khalifa Al-Thani, in Doha on Sunday, April 7, noted that the visa ban was negatively affecting Nigerians as it prevents them from visiting Qatar.
Bukola Saraki said at the meeting, the prime minister of Qatar promised to look into this issue.
Some of the lawmakers who accompanied Saraki on the trip include the deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yussuff Lasun, Senators Duro Faseyi, Ibrahim Rafiu Adebayo, Ikon Samuel Okon, Igbokwe Raphael Nnanna, Fulata Abubakar Hassan, Goodhead Boma and Dasuki Abdussammad.
Bukola Saraki also paid a visit to the Nigerian embassy in Doha, Qatar, as part of his trip to the Gulf nation.
