Ighalo Arrives at Stamford Bridge Ahead of Chelsea Clash

Odion Ighalo will become the first Nigerian player to feature in a football match for Manchester United if he is given a role in tonight’s match against Chelsea.

Report shows that Ighalo was at Stamford Bridge ahead of the Premier League blockbuster match between the Blues and Reds.

In one of his pictures that surfaced online, Ighalo was seen on the pitch putting on a black suit.

With Marcus Rashford’s absence, a heavy burden is placed on the deadline-day loan signing Ighalo to score the goals that can haul United up the table.

The Africa Cup of Nations’ highest goalscorer is hoping to add to his tally of 16 goals from 55 EPL games, should he get a chance to make his Manchester United debut.

Ole Solskjaer’s men are languishing in ninth place but can move to within two points of the fifth position with a third victory over Chelsea this season.

Earlier, Solskjaer has assured Ighalo that he would be handed a permanent deal if he is able to put up an impressive performance against Chelsea and other games till the end of December.

United have been offered a lifeline in their quest to return to the Champions League next season with Manchester City’s potential two-season ban from European competition meaning fifth in the Premier League could be enough to qualify.

Ighalo, who joined United from Shanghai Shenhua, was quarantined before he was allowed to train with his new teammates but the coach believes he deserves a chance in the Monday night’s game, saying, “He (Ighalo) is desperate to play for Manchester United.”

Ighalo has been training with Manchester-based performance Coach Wayne Richardson at the GB Taekwondo Centre in Manchester to keep fit despite featuring in his last competitive match in December 2019.

He arrived at Carrington on Sunday morning, chauffeured in, to train with his new teammates for the first time.
